Le Jardin des Voix #13 : applications

Work studied: Il matrimonio segreto by Domenico Cimarosa
Co-direction: William Christie and Paul Agnew

This programme will be developed during a three-week residency in Thiré (Vendée, Pays de la Loire). The laureates will then perform at the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie 2027, followed by an international tour during the 2027–28 season, with Les Arts Florissants, under the alternating leadership of William Christie and Paul Agnew.

Opening date for applications: 17 October 2025
Application deadline: 16 November 2025
Notification of pre-selection results: 1 December 2025

2. Auditions

Three audition sessions (choice of location):

London: 5–6 January 2026 (rehearsals from 2 January)
Paris: 11–12 January 2026 (rehearsals from 9 January)
New York: 14 January 2026 (rehearsals from 13 January)

NB: Candidates must be available for all the dates scheduled in the city of their choice.

3. Participation in Le Jardin des Voix

Location: Headquarters of the Fondation Les Arts Florissants – William Christie in Thiré (Vendée, Pays de la Loire, France)

Residency: From 31 July 2027

Performances:
21–22 August 2027, as part of the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie
(Candidates must be available until 29 August 2027 to take part in the Festival.)

International tours with Les Arts Florissants throughout the 2027–28 season:

10–23 September 2027
21 October – 7 November 2027
1–16 February 2028

Candidates must ensure they are available during all scheduled work and tour periods.

Repertoire

The 13th edition of Le Jardin des Voix will be devoted to the opera
Il matrimonio segreto by Domenico Cimarosa (1749–1801).

Voice types sought:

2 sopranos
1 mezzo-soprano
1 tenor
2 basses

NB: The soloists will also be required to sing in the ensemble numbers.

Pitch: A = 415 Hz

Eligibility & Application Procedure

Le Jardin des Voix is open to students and graduates of Music conservatoires, equivalent higher education institutions or candidates of an equivalent level.

Applicants must be no older than 30 on 31 December 2027 (i.e. born after 31 December 1996).

Each candidate must submit an application including:

1-page Curriculum Vitae
1-page letter of reference
1-page personal statement of purpose
Portrait photograph (colour)
Copy of passport (bio-data page only)
Two recordings (A = 415 Hz):
one aria from Il matrimonio segreto (Cimarosa)
one aria by Georg Friedrich Händel (of the candidate’s choice)
