Les Arts Flo & The Juilliard School
Since 2007, Les Arts Florissants has worked closely with the most prestigious music school in the United States: the Juilliard School in New York.
An historic partnership
William Christie est invité en tant que pédagogue à la Juilliard School. C’est la première fois dans l’histoire de l’école que la musique ancienne y est enseignée.
Sous l’impulsion de William Christie, un département de musique ancienne voit le jour au sein de la Juilliard School, pour mettre ce répertoire au cœur de la formation.
Pour la première fois, des étudiants de la Juilliard School sont invités à rejoindre les rangs de l’orchestre des Arts Florissants, à l’occasion de la première édition du Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie.
Les élèves de la Juilliard School sont invités en résidence au Quartier des Artistes de Thiré (Vendée – Pays de la Loire, siège de la Fondation Les Arts Florissants – William Christie)
A fruitful musical and cultural cooperation
Through their collaboration, the Juilliard School and Les Arts Florissants are contributing to a profound renewal of American musical life, enabling a whole new generation of American musicians to approach and appropriate the Baroque repertoire. They also provide the impetus for new exchanges between France and the United States of America.
Residencies on both sides of the Atlantic
Each year, William Christie and Paul Agnew are hosted at the Juilliard School for periods of residency. In return, the School's students are invited to the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie, which offers them the opportunity to work, exchange and perform with the musicians of Les Arts Florissants, as well as with young artists from the Foundation's other training programmes.
Young artists integrated into the Ensemble
Some former students of the Juilliard School are now regular collaborators of Les Arts Florissants: Emmanuel Resche-Caserta (first violin and musical assistant to William Christie), Augusta Mckay Lodge (first violin), Edson Scheid (violin), Liv Heym (violin), Jeffrey Girton (violin), Douglas Balliett (double bass), Hugo Abraham (double bass), Jessica Niles (soprano), Shakèd Bar (soprano)...
