William Christie reunites with French soprano Sandrine Piau for a musical anthology of Handelian arias and concerti grossi. One of the highlights of Les Arts Florissants' season!
If the artistic complicity between William Christie and Sandrine Piau goes back a long way, so too does their shared affinity with the music of George Frideric Handel, of whom both are among the great interpreters. To highlight the ductility of the soprano voice, this new concert program brings together some of Handel's great arias, combining them with instrumental pieces created in the same Italian vein: the Concerti grossi. These concerti, clearly inspired by those of Italian violinist and composer Arcangelo Corelli, will be conducted for the occasion by Emmanuel Resche-Caserta, first violin and musical assistant to William Christie.
A concert dedicated to passion and sharing across generations!
