Marc-Antoine Charpentier:
Pastorale sur la Naissance de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ H.483
Messe de minuit à 4 voix, flûtes et violons, pour Noël, H.9

William Christie and his baroque ensemble Les Arts Florissants return to the Brooklyn Academy of Music for a merry “French” Christmas!
Perhaps the most French of American conductors invites you to celebrate Christmas in music, with a festive program devoted to one of his favorite composers: Marc-Antoine Charpentier.
Master of music at the Sainte-Chapelle during the reign of Louis XIV, Charpentier was one of the greatest composers of sacred music during the Grand Siècle. A fine example is his beautiful Messe de Minuit and Pastorale de Noël, which William Christie and Les Arts Florissants have brought out on a reference recording. As true connoisseurs, they will therefore perform these major works - offering a Christmas mass as it might have sounded in Charpentier's time...
A not-to-be-missed event, to celebrate Christmas with music in a joyous and festive atmosphere... “à la française”!
