Visitors in William Christie's Gardens
The (re)discovery of a sacred heritage, both musical and architectural:
this is the challenge of the Spring Festival. Directed by Paul Agnew, this event co-produced by Les Arts Florissants and the Département de la Vendée proposes each year an immersion into the sacred repertoire of a great baroque composer, through a series of concerts in the churches of the South Vendée region.
Since its inception in 2017, the Spring Festival has featured some of the finest music by Charpentier, Bach, Vivaldi, Schütz, Purcell, Monteverdi... Performed by the artists of Les Arts Florissants conducted by Paul Agnew and William Christie. In 2025, the featured composer is George Frideric Handel.
It is also an opportunity to enjoy the springtime charm of William Christie's Gardens, of which the festival marks the reopening following its winter closure.
