As a connoisseur of Italian music, Paul Agnew is always delighted to explore this repertoire which is so dear to his heart.
Here he has chosen to bring together, in the same concert, two essential masterpieces of the 17th century: Monteverdi's very famous Selva morale e spirituale and Giacomo Carissimi's oratorio Jephte, together with a few pieces by their contemporaries Salomone Rossi and Girolamo Frescobaldi. A program full of contemplation and emotion, given exceptionally at the opening of the Stockholm Early Music Festival!
