Véronique Gens, Lea Desandre: two musical personalities that seem to echo each other, from one generation to the next. Two destinies also, united by bonds of trust and friendship - one was the teacher of the other - and marked by the meeting of the same mentor: William Christie.
Noticed at the dawn of their careers, it is with him that they have established themselves as major interpreters of the Baroque repertoire - Véronique Gens, for the recreation of Lully's Atys in 1987, which has since become a legend; Lea Desandre, with the Académie du Jardin des Voix in 2015.
It is therefore with unmixed pleasure that William Christie reunites with these two singers so dear to his heart. For the occasion, he has concocted a tailor-made program around Christoph Willibald Gluck (1714-1787), a favorite composer of Lea Desandre and especially of Véronique Gens, whose sublime interpretations of Alceste, Iphigénie en Tauride or Orphée et Eurydice are well known.
