Highlights from the Arts Flo Master Class

February 25 2021

From February 13 to 16, 2021, ten young singers and instrumentalists were hosted in Thiré to deepen their knowledge of the Baroque repertoire with William Christie and musicians from Les Arts Florissants.

Four timeless days of immersion in 17th- and 18th-century French music: this was the challenge for the ten participants and four instructors of the first-ever Arts Flo Master Class at the Quartier des Artistes! Once they had all arrived in Thiré after testing negative for Covid-19, they dove into work (and fun) sessions in a studious and convivial ambiance, forming close bonds along the way.

The Master Class in key figures:

  • 4 working days
  • 4 instructors: William Christie, Lisandro Abadie (bass singer), Emmanuel Resche (violin) and Myriam Rignol (viola da gamba)
  • 25 years: average age of participants
  • 10 participants: 4 singers, 2 violinists, 2 gambists, 2 harpsichordists / organists
  • 3 nationalities: French, Italian, Brazilian
