‘Charpentier, Grands Motets’ from Versailles!

March 3 2021

In lieu of being able to give a public performance, Les Arts Florissants and William Christie have recorded the ‘Charpentier, Grands Motets’ concert in private at the Chapelle Royale of Versailles. We look forward to sharing this special event with as many of you as possible on YouTube on March 6 and soon on Qwest TV, the new video streaming platform dedicated to music!

For this concert, performances of which in Versailles and La Rochelle had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the Arts Florissants choir and orchestra, with William Christie conducting, will perform some of Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s most beautiful sacred pieces, including Te Deum H. 147—a gem rarely heard as it is often supplanted by its brilliant alter-ego Te Deum H.146.

For this exceptional recording at Versailles, we have organized special ways of broadcasting it:

  • March 6, 2021 – 8pm: short version on YouTube (Te Deum H. 147)

  • April 2021: full version on Qwest TV

Founded by jazzman Quincy Jones, the video-on-demand service is coming this spring with a whole new catalog of concert videos, documentaries and movies pertaining to classical music. By taking part in this new digital adventure, Les Arts Florissants is pleased to continue its exploration of innovative ways to cultivate and maintain a vibrant connection between artists and audiences, around the world!

A concert filmed at the Chapelle Royale in Versailles, in coproduction with Château de Versailles Spectacles and thanks to the support of the American Friends of Les Arts Florissants.
