New CD issue: "Generations"

July 19 2021

Across the generations, William Christie and Théotime Langlois de Swarte combine their talents to help us rediscover the music of French composers, Jean-Baptiste Senaillé and Jean-Marie Leclair!

At the crossroads of the Italian and French schools, Leclair and Senaillé were, in a way, the Paganinis of 18th century France. For this new recording of the "Les Arts Florissants" collection for harmonia mundi, William Christie has invited the young violin prodigy, Théotime Langlois de Swarte (former Arts Flo Junior and longtime Les Arts Florissants collaborator), to delve into these pieces, which are still unjustly ignored, creating a program of violin-harpsichord duets that are both virtuoso and sensitive.
