Masterclass #8

"The Art of Recitative: Music and theatricality"

From May 29 to 31, 2023, Thiré, Vendée

A 3-day workshop with 2 major artists of Les Arts Florissants, Sophie Daneman (soprano, director and Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London) and Béatrice Martin (harpsichordist and Professor at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève & The Juilliard School of New York), exploring "les grandes scènes de récitatif" from the French Baroque repertoire.

The masterclasses will be an opportunity to work on scenes by Lully, Charpentier, Rameau and their contemporaries. This dramatic music, deeply linked to the text, allows for an extraordinary collaboration requiring freedom, flexibility and rigor, between the singers and the continuo.
