Afternoons in the Gardens
One ticket for a whole afternoon of music and discovery in the Jardins de William Christie, every day of the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie!
Opening time of the Gardens: 2:15 pm

Every afternoon during the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie, the artists of Les Arts Florissants invite you to the idyllic setting of William Christie's Gardens and the Quartier des Artistes, for a unique experience combining the beauty of nature and the pleasures of music.
In addition to the tickets available at the opening of the Festival ticket office, “fine weather” tickets will be put on sale by our partner the Département de la Vendée on the day of each event, as soon as the weather permits.
Guided tours of the Gardens
2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Specialists and lovers of William Christie's Gardens invite you to discover this “remarkable garden”, listed in the French inventory of historic monuments, on guided tours organized especially for the Festival. This is an opportunity to grasp the spirit of this fascinating and eclectic place, imagined from scratch by the conductor... and which promises new surprises every year.
Singing workshop: “ French opera, when the arts soften our souls ”.
2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Singer Leila Zlassi, a loyal member of the Les Arts Florissants choir, invites children, teenagers and adults to discover Baroque music... by singing it! Devoted this year to French opera, the workshop will focus on a curiosity found in many operas (including Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Les Arts florissants): the way in which, on stage, the arts can become the characters of the plot. Embark on a journey of “art-legory”!
Dance discovery: “Promenade galante, dance, song and floral poetry”
2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Dancer Pierre-François Dollé takes festival-goers on a stroll through the parks and gardens of the Quartier des Artistes, where they can discover curiosities from Baroque history, while learning a few dance steps. This year, bucolic reverie will take center stage, with a “promenade galante” inspired by texts from La Guirlande de Julie - a collection of poems on the theme of nature and flowers - and punctuated by dances evoking French gardens.
Crossing paths
August 23 and 24 (2:30 pm - 3:30 pm)
Novelist and French academician Erik Orsenna reunites with art historian Henry-Claude Cousseau for a conversation in which the two men of culture invite the public to follow the wanderings of their thoughts, on the themes of music, art and, of course, gardens.
Concerts in the Gardens: the Musical Promenades
4:00 pm - 6:30 pm
An emblematic rendezvous of the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie, these short concerts explore the different areas of the Gardens, while inviting the audience to discover musical repertoires or little-known pieces, selected by the performers themselves. An unforgettable experience, in a unique proximity between audience and performers!
This year, Myriam Rignol, world-renowned violist and flagship musician of Les Arts Florissants, will be given “carte blanche” to create a program of short concerts to round off the afternoons in the Gardens.
