To conclude the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie, Paul Agnew brings together the orchestra of Les Arts Florissants for a concert on the frontiers of the Baroque.
Mozart, Beethoven: at first glance, two composers that one might not associate directly with the musical universe of Les Arts Florissants - and yet... In tackling them, Paul Agnew continues Les Arts Florissants' exploration of the great classical works, while following in the logical footsteps of the ensemble's preferred repertoire.
The concert invites us to rediscover, on period instruments, the Violin Concerto in G major KV.216 and some of Mozart's great opera arias, as well as Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony No. 6. And to combine virtuosity with surprise, two emblematic musicians from Les Arts Florissants will join the event: violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte, figurehead of a new generation of Baroque performers, and Portuguese soprano Ana Vieira Leite, winner of Le Jardin des Voix academy in 2021.
A grand finale!
