Who is it for?

This masterclass is designed for singers and musicians seeking to enrich their vocal performances with expressive intent and gesture, as well as for dancers wishing to explore the aesthetics of Baroque dance in conjunction with precise musicality and the development of movement that serves the dramatic narrative of an opera.

 

Where and when?

From April 21 to 25, 2027 (arrival in Thiré on April 20 at the end of the day) at the Quartier des Artistes in Thiré (Vendée, France), an exceptional heritage site combining beautiful gardens and musical pleasures, birthplace of the Festival Dans les Jardins de William Christie

 

Workflow

The schedule will consist of group and individual work sessions, as well as theoretical sessions (sources, context, etc.). 

A public presentation concert will be held at the end of the masterclass.

How to apply? 

Participants must submit their résumés and a cover letter. Singers should prepare two vocal pieces, preferably in slightly different registers, or present a spoken scene from a ballet-comédie, for example, or any other text of their choice. Dancers may present a choreographed piece, focusing on expressive gestures and movements they wish to explore during the masterclass.
