Spring Festival 2025: ticketing is now open
Co-produced by Les Arts Florissants and the Département de la Vendée, the Festival de Printemps - Les Arts Florissants devotes its 9th edition to a fundamental composer in the history of music: George Frideric Handel (1685-1759).
Born in Prussia, he created a body of work full of emotion and brilliance, over the course of his itinerant career in Baroque Europe - first in Hamburg and Italy, then in London, where he reached his apotheosis. This Spring Festival will be an opportunity to discover the many facets of Handel as a European composer, through sacred works dating from different periods of his life and reflecting the variety of his inspirations, ranging from Italian oratorio to German poetry, from Rome to London.
This is the second time we have devoted an edition of our Spring Festival to George Frideric Handel. But there is no danger of repetition, because the interest in this composer is infinite! Essentially, Handel is the European man. There's the German Handel, the Italian Handel, the English Handel... not forgetting the businessman, who criss-crossed Europe to make his career. But above all, it is his ability to touch us right up to the present day that makes him a fundamental artist, transcending borders, languages and eras.
