On November 24, Les Arts Florissants and William Christie invite you to celebrate Thanksgiving with the broadcast of a never-before-seen video : "Music for the Sainte-Chapelle" by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, recorded... at the Sainte-Chapelle !
It is impossible to talk about Les Arts Florissants without mentioning its American founder, musical director and conductor William Christie. The link with the United States is confirmed each year, particularly through a partnership between Les Arts Florissants and the prestigious music conservatory The Julliard School in New York centered on the shared ambition of transmission.
Celebrating Thanksgiving – this holiday of generosity, so important in North America – has a special meaning for Les Arts Florissants. This year, on November 24, we are pleased to share a very special gift with you: a never-before-seen video, filmed in the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris where William Christie and Les Arts Florissants performed for the very first time. One hour of music filmed close to the artists, inviting you to discover Charpentier's liturgical music as it might have been performed in the composer’s day.
This Thanksgiving gift is also an opportunity for us to pay tribute to the generosity of patrons who are absolutely essential for our Foundation: the American Friends of Les Arts Florissants, who entirely financed this recording, filmed without an audience in 2021*.
Happy Thanksgiving !
*We also thank all the generous donors who attended the private concert at the Sainte Chapelle on April 20, 2022.
