A tribute to Ronald Stanton, sponsor of the 2011 remounted production of Atys
Ronald P. Stanton passed away on September 26 at the age 88. Through his support, Lully’s legendary Atys was remounted in 2011.
An avid music lover, he served on the Board of Directors for the Lincoln Center in New York and was a sponsor of the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Audiences owe him the remounting of Atys in 2011, which he financed so that he could experience once more the production that had marked him so strongly in 1987.
It is with sadness and affection that William Christie and the Les Arts Florissants salute him today.
