This has been the first time that television cameras broadcasted live, via the internet, a ceremony from under the dome of the Institut de France. Hugues Gall gives the speech electing William Christie as a member before inviting him to deliver the eulogy to his predecessor, the mime artist Marceau. A uniquely moving occasion, in which performers from the Choir and Orchestra of Les Arts Florissants are involved, also with the participation of the soprano Stéphanie d'Oustrac.
