Elizabeth KENNY, luth
Well-known in the world of early music, British lutenist Elizabeth Kenny is one of today's leading interpreters of this instrument. In addition to prestigious collaborations with ensembles such as Les Arts Florissants and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, her personal research has led her to explore the repertoire of Purcell, Lawes and Dowland in critically acclaimed recordings, and to found her ensemble Theatre of the Ayre. She is currently Director of Performance at Oxford University and Professor of Lute at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
For this Concert & Café, Les Arts Florissants have given her carte blanche to compose a program devoted to lute pieces in 17th-century Italian music.
