The rich financier Perre Crozat (1665-1740) was Watteau’s sponsor. In his private mansion in the rue de Richelieu he organised concerts and most notably those of Madame de Prie, the mistress of the Prince de Condé. She was a great admirer of Italian music. In the intimate setting of the Amphithéâtre, William Christie and the musicians of Les Arts Florissants will come and play the historic instruments or “fac-simile” of the Museum’s collection. An invitation to go back in time, so as to try and create a little of the musical atmosphere characteristic of this Florentine salon.
In association with the concert: Before the concert at 7p.m. The Philharmonie de Paris is proposing a debate animated by Catherine Massip on the theme: ”Pierre Crozat, a sponsor for the Grand Siècle”. With Catherine Massip, William Christie, Florence Gétreau and Florence Raymond.
