Laureate of the Jardin des Voix, 2nd edition (2005)
“Le Jardin des Voix was, after the birth of my daughter, the most extraordinary and magnificent gift that life has given me. No, I am not exaggerating.
I fell in love with Baroque music the first time I listened to Les Arts Florissants’ album of Hippolyte et Aricie. I was living in Malta then, and at the time, during my adolescence, Baroque was non-existent in the theatres of that small island. When I sang Baroque pieces, I was trying to imitate what I heard in albums I liked, without really knowing what I was doing. Le Jardin des Voix changed everything. At last, explanations and references given by excellent teachers: William Christie, Kenneth Weiss, and Paul Agnew. They were so patient with my moments of stupidity and laziness! For the first time, I got chills while making music myself. All this emotion on the greatest stages in the world. Surely because I was surrounded by quality, camaraderie, passion, and joy. One never forgets the first time. ❤️”
