"Bach, a Life in Music", second era: Weimar

"Bach's early cantatas are often conceived for the very limited musical resources he had at his disposal. They are not monumental works, but rather vocal pieces for a few singers and an ensemble of soloists, which were probably performed with a similar number of musicians to the one gathered for this concert. (...) They are also - surprisingly, considering the composer's youth and relative inexperience - some of his most beautiful and famous works." Paul Agnew
"True to form, Les Arts Florissants make a three-century-old sacred music alive and vibrant to the ears of a lay audience." Bachtrack

As a connoisseur of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Paul Agnew invites us to delve into the musical universe of the "Leipzig Cantor" through a series of concerts that follow the life of the composer. After a first episode devoted to the cantatas composed by Bach during his stays in Arnstadt (1703-1706) and Mühlhausen (1706-1708), the adventure continues in Weimar...

And at the Philharmonie de Paris, the audience will be exceptionally involved in the concert, as part of a participatory encore!
